The DTS system (distributed temperature sensing) has the capacity to not only detect fires quickly, but to also detect individual fires precisely within a few meters. This is done unaffected by wind, because not only convective but also radiant heat is determined. Additionally the size and fire spread direction can be monitored over a longer period, because the sensor cable is able to withstand temperatures up to 750°C without loosing monitoring capability. The system can be easily integrated into existing management platforms (e.g. SCADA systems) by either communicating directly over Ethernet (TCP/IP) using SCPI (standard commands for programmable instruments), or Modbus.
